Mpox Scare in India: Health Ministry Isolates Suspected Case, Contact Tracing Ongoing
A young man who recently returned from a country facing an Mpox (monkeypox) outbreak has been flagged as a suspected case of the virus, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday. The patient has been placed in isolation at a designated hospital, where he remains stable.
Health officials are currently testing the patient’s samples to confirm whether he has Mpox. The ministry emphasized that all necessary protocols are being followed, and contact tracing is underway to identify anyone he may have been in contact with.
The Ministry reassured the public that this case aligns with the risk assessment made earlier by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), adding that there is no reason for unnecessary alarm. Authorities have measures in place to handle such travel-related cases, and the country is well-prepared to manage any potential risks.
